What is Memory Campus?

Memory Campus is an ecosystem for the archive, library, and museum sectors, as well as for information management.

It is a national and international development platform coordinated by Xamk, the University of Applied Sciences in Southeastern Finland.

Memory Campus is owned by the City of Mikkeli.

Memory Campus is a center of expertise in information management and the archive, library, and museum sectors. Its key players include memory organizations, research and educational institutions, public sector entities, and companies in the field. The key players in Memory Campus include the National Archives of Finland, the National Library of Finland, the Finnish Business Archives (ELKA), the Center for War and Peace Studies – Muisti, South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk), Digitalia, the Mikkeli University Consortium (MUC), the South Savo Vocational College (Esedu), and several companies in the field, such as Disec, Mindhive, Metatavu, Grano, and Suur-Savon Sähkö, among others.

One of our key objectives is to create collaboration networks, enabling professionals in the field to share experiences and ideas, and to find new partners.

Another important aspect of Memory Campus is testing and piloting, which helps to develop new solutions and ensure their functionality in real-world situations.

Ensuring future skills and education is crucial for responding to changes and development needs in the field.

Research and product development partnerships are also important for developing the ecosystem, as they help to identify new innovations and develop expertise in the field.

Responsible circular economy and sustainable development are also key objectives that we strive to promote.

Commercialization, product development, and new business opportunities are also important areas that we develop in collaboration with companies in the field. Our goal is to identify new business opportunities and promote the overall development of the field.
