Memory Campus is organising a three-day hybrid event called “Digital Archiving Futures” on the 4-6 of September 2024 in Mikkeli, Finland.

• The first day of the event, September 4th, is a “Pre-day” with side event meetings of partners and informal evening event and a keynote speaker at Muisti Centre of War and Peace (English).
• On the second day of the event, September 5th, the program will be in English. Themes of the day will be “Data Spaces, Artificial Intelligence, and Cluster Collaboration”, featuring speakers from the GLAM sector and information management field from Finland and across Europe. The “Data Spaces” theme of the event will cover perspectives on data space, shared data and also more specifically development activities in different networks related to this topic, for example Europeana and Time Machine. The “Artificial Intelligence” aspect will highlight future possibilities for the use of artificial intelligence in the archive, library and museum sector, as well as in the field of information management in general. The “Collaboration” theme brings together the strong role of cooperations in creating the future, in terms of co-development and co-creation, ecosystem collaboration and interconnection with other actors to develop a common future and knowledge.
• On the third day, September 6th, we will host the eighth edition of Digitalia’s Digital Information Summer School in Finnish, with a theme aligned with the previous international day, bringing together speakers and participants to reflect together the future of digital archiving.

On Wednesday 4th we can offer collaboration spaces for our participants, should they want to organize meetings in conjunction with the event. A joint dinner and other social programming will be organized on Thursday 5th. Memory Campus organizations also provide guided visits to their facilities in the Mikkeli area on Thursday as well.

The event is free of charge for participants. Lunches and dinners run at participants’ own cost. Some visiting locations may charge fees. The event is hosted by our project “Memory Campus as an International Cluster for Information Management,” and the Memory Campus Cluster. The project is funded by the South Savo Regional Council from funds allocated to supporting the sustainable growth and vitality of regions.
